Join us for an afternoon 2-mile hike on the trails of the Great Oak Greenway, and beyond to the Atkinson-Dirlam preserve. We will meet at the Nathan Lester House parking lot for 1:30 p.m. Please wear proper hiking attire. The hike is mostly flat with 2 short inclines. The hike leader, Julie, will be describing landmarks along the way. Elaine Steele, from the Gales Ferry Library, will be joining the hike.
The Great Oak Greenway is a productive collaboration of the Town of Ledyard and the Avalonia Land Conservancy, connecting three open-space properties: the 110-acre Great Oak Park; the 25-acre open space parcel at 800 Long Cove Road, and Avalonia’s 260-acre Pine Swamp Wildlife Corridor.
