Summer Reading

It’s “Fizz, Boom Read” at the library this summer!  We have a great summer reading program for ages 4 and up.  Registration begins Monday, June 23 at Bill or Gales Ferry Library.

Ages 4 – Entering 1st grade will be in our Read-to-Me program. After registering at the library, your child will choose a coloring sheet. Write the titles read on the back of the sheet, and have them color the front. Make sure their name is on the front and return to the library where you registered. Your child will get to pick a prize from our prize box and choose another coloring sheet. If they complete 5 sheets by August 9th, they will receive a paperback book.

Entering 2nd grade – 6th grade will be in our “Fizz Boom Read” program. After registering at the library where their information will be entered into a computer program, each student will have their own online reading log. They can go into the reading log and enter the number of minutes they have read at any time. If you do not have a computer at home, your child will also get a paper reading log where they can record their minutes. We will transfer the information to a computer when they come into the library for their prizes. For every 60 minutes read, your student will earn a “book buck” that they can spend at our library store. The program will continue until August 9th when the store will close at 12:30 pm. Students can keep recording minutes read until August 23rd for reporting to their school.
